Mikaele Salesa is a fence who deals in regular and paranormal artefacts (though no books). He was once one of Jurgen Leitner's assistants and took his client list when he departed the job, which gave him many contacts dealing in objects with supernatural artefacts.[1] Some of the "more bizarre" artefacts in The Magnus Institute's artefact Storage were purchased from him,[2] and he refers to them as "one of his most stable customers".[1]

The main description of Mikaele Salesa is "a big Samoan guy with close-cropped hair".[3] He is also almost 6'7".
History[]
Pre-1994: Mikaele Salesa quits his job as an assistant in The Library of Jurgen Leitner, "helping himself" to Leitner's client list.
Autumn 1999: A man referred to as "Cook" working for Salesa aboard his ship, the Dorian, discovers an antique meat grinder among the cargo, and Salesa sells it to him. After the ensuing meaty adventure, Salesa ends up killing Cook in self-defence and making a rule for himself that only he is allowed to inspect his cargo.[1]
January 2000: Vincent Yang is kept unintentionally imprisoned in a wooden crate by Mikaele Salesa (and possibly Captain Peter Lukas) after impounding cargo going through Portsmouth.[4]
pre-January 2007: Mikaele Salesa sells a Slaughter artefact to the Institute which something then goes wrong with. Despite insisting that he isn't liable, Salesa appreciates them keeping it quiet, and agrees to give them a statement (not his first), deciding on the meat grinder incident.[1]
Spring 2010: Dr. Neil Thompson sells an antique syringe, allegedly belonging to John Snow, to Mikaele Salesa.[5]
Early 2011: Lee Rentoul puts a curse on Paul Noriega after unwillingly spending 5 years in prison for him with the help of an old woman named Angela from Bexley. After Rentoul kills Noriega (at a meeting with Mikaele Salesa), the curse passes to him, causing him to progressively lose parts of his body.[3]
May 2012: Andre Ramao, having bought a Chinese urn from Mikaele Salesa, begins inexplicably losing items, with no record of them ever having existed. When Salesa is consulted about the urn, he tells Ramao that "[I] don't remember owning it, which means it belongs to you". Over several months, Ramao becomes progressively more obsessed with the urn until he falls asleep in front of it, and then all the items are returned. After seeing pale, filthy hands pushing themselves out of the urn, Andre's husband disappears.[2]
2014: One of Salesa's crew members is killed by a carpet influenced by the Spiral, and he throws both the carpet and the man overboard.
After the conclusion of that voyage, Salesa announces his retirement to the crew of the Dorian. He also says that before he retires, he wants to go on one last voyage, and any crew member who wants to join is welcome, though it will be very dangerous. The voyage to a remote island is completed successfully, although two of the crew who accompanied him onshore didn't return. Another crew member glimpses Salesa putting an old camera with a broken lens into a storage crate.
Back on land, Salesa insists on throwing a party, but an explosion goes off that night while he delivers the artefact, supposedly killing Salesa and the captain of the Dorian, who dies from the shrapnel a short while later.[6]
Post-Change: Salesa reappears in MAG 180, where Martin and John encounter him and Annabelle Cane in Upton House. The house and surrounding area is untouched by The Change due to Salesa's broken camera artefact found on his last voyage having the power to shield him from the entities. John and Martin stay with him for a while before moving on toward London.
By MAG 194, Annabelle has stolen the camera and killed Salesa in his sleep as an act of mercy.
